Set the norms
When meeting for a Check-In, ensure everyone is standing, and that a strict timer (visible to everyone in the team) is set. Check-in meetings are designed to be run at pace!

Move through the questions
The leader should lead the group through the following questions, spending no more than 2 minutes on each:
Done: What have you done since our last meeting? What evidence of impact are you observing?
Stuck: Is anybody stuck? What resources or guidance would help you to move forward?
Tweak: What adjustments do we need to make in order to increase the likelihood of success?
Important note! It’s easy to spend a lot of time exploring what has been done; try to shift the focus of the conversation quickly to identifying any barriers to implementation, or any tweaks that could be made in the classroom to increase the likelihood of success.

Identify future actions needed
Given the problems that may have surfaced, spend the last few minutes of the Check-In discussing the supports that are available and appropriate. It is important that any complex problems are followed up (and resolved) at a later time – stick strictly to the time limit so that the Check-In remains just that – a short and sharp opportunity to touch base with your team.

If you have time, add in Step 4: Shout Out! To round out the meeting, acknowledge and highlight the great work that is being done across your team, whether it’s sharing of practice, responsiveness to feedback, or collection of impact evidence in the Sprint.
Note: This tool is inspired by Scrum development stand-up meetings used in the software sector.
